Haram Xafra is a large-scale sculptural installation composed of hundreds of hand-fabricated wooden cubes arranged in a pyramidal form, referencing the architecture of Giza. Each unit is wrapped in dyed gauze and earth pigments sourced from Esna, Egypt, embedding the work with material and geographic specificity.
Illuminated with low-wattage LED lighting, the structure casts an expansive shadow that doubles its presence, transforming the sculpture into a dual form of object and projection. I meditated on a different personal memory while fabricating each cube—an autobiography writ in wood, light, memory, and shadow.
