The Memory Palace is a suspended, large-scale installation composed of intricately patterned architectural drawings rendered on handmade silk. Drawing from buildings in my family's history in Egypt that have since been altered or demolished, the work transforms personal memory into a layered architectural environment.
Illuminated by low-wattage LED lighting, the installation extends beyond its physical form through projected shadow, nearly doubling its scale and transforming the surrounding walls into an immersive field of light and image. As viewers move through the space, the work shifts between object and projection, emphasizing the fragile and ever-changing nature of memory.
